Play helps children weave together all the elements of life as they experience it. It allows them to digest the world around them and make it their own. It is a means of expressing themselves and their creativity. Play is an absolutely critical part of their childhood, with creative play, children blossom and flourish; without it, they will struggle in all areas of their development. Children who are permitted to play freely with their peers will develop skills for seeing things through another person’s point of view...cooperating, sharing and solving problems. Sorrento Preschool's Mission Statement At Sorrento Preschool, we are committed to providing a rich and stimulating environment that supports and enhances children's overall development, and leaves them feeling safe and valued. Education through play is our focus, as we believe that through a play based curriculum, children will thrive in all areas of their development. We honour diversity and teach acceptance through positive guidance and role modelling. Getting to know each family, helps us to understand each child and to focus on specific life-skills that they may need to feel a secure sense of belonging and confidence. The experiences a child absorbs during his/her preschool years, forms the core foundation that they will build upon for the rest of their lives, and we strive to help build "outstanding foundations" in each and every child.
